“fuck you, I got mine”. It’s the mantra of America (as seen from outside the country). And it’s a crying shame because there are tons of people who don’t live by that ... but the ones that do enjoy outsized power and a bully pulpit from whence to bray about it.

You’re forgetting the GOP motto: It’s bad except for when I need it and I’ll make sure you cant access it when I’m done.

I don’t personally post million of selfies but I’m also trying not to shit on something if it brings someone happiness. Is their millions of selfies personally hurting you?

You can have a discussion about the use of SM, lots of people have and I would recommend that you seek out that research if you want to know why people take million selfies. Boiling it down to narcissism or insecurity is the easiest answer to reach for. And even if it is narcissism/insecurity, then what? Is that an

I think there’s a difference in offering opinions compared to simply judging what another person does and writing it off as narcissistic.

I’m a fairly private person, and don’t post on social media that much (a lot of that is because I don’t like the way I look in pictures, not because I’m better than people who do), but Chrissy Teigen posting about her miscarriage (or even a regular person posting about her miscarriage) is hardly exhibitionist or

cuz they want to and its part of the cultural lexicon at this point. why do you need a reason? its not my bag personally, but i really dont need to make up some reason for people to do things i dont do. that seems narcissistic, considering how easy it is to ignore. different strokes.

Because they want to?

lol right? says they can’t imagine going after someone like this, then proceeds to go after them.

That’s how you handle social media, not everyone else. Posting a lot of selfies doesn’t mean someone is narcissistic.

idk who cares, let people post selfies and just appreciate that they are feeling pretty that day, and stop making assumptions on why people do it.

that was my thought too - she otherwise would have to log on and deal with people congratulating her for a baby she isn’t carrying (painful) or deal with the press leaking the news first (also painful). I wish she COULD give herself the space to mourn without posting because that just looks so raw of an experience RN,

A lot of hospitals offer photography in situations like this, so its not necessarily a glamourous photoshoot. I’ve known non-famous people who post these on their social media accounts to essentially say, “they existed in this world. they will be remembered.” It wasn’t thirsty or fake for them to do it, and I think

Tiegen had been posting regularly about their journey with this pregnancy from the beginning. I can imagine that, having had the pregnancy end in this way, she would want to get out in front of the story and post it herself.

No one is saying that. Why do people want to act like mega corporations aren’t spending tons of money to make people buy their foods? Why do people act like most poor people are working 2 or 3 jobs to scrape by? Why do people want to like in the least healthy communities in the aren’t the most pedestrian friendly? Why

These suggestions aren’t helpful. Yeah, it would be better if everybody ate better and exercised, but telling them to go do that is totally ineffective. Going by the evidence, shaming people for their weight is a great way to encourage them to gain weight.

The problem isn’t the individual, though. It’s access

Marathon runners and yogis have a lot of free time for those hobbies. Being vegan isn't cheap. It's not just about choices, it's about having the opportunity to make those choices.

Absolutely it is cheap, but training and running a marathon is extremely time consuming.
