I agree with the gist of this, in as far as that a low response rate is still better than spam. Being the one who initiates should improve the signal to noise ratio.

And he was so proud of her too for making that joke!

Certain people tend to get so hung up on the emptiness of words. Of course it has often been true that people who always took care to say all the right things turned out more than useless when the chips were down.

For what it's worth, I don't really remember it either, just that I was one of the last girls in my class to get it. I was rather relieved that mom wasn't making a big production about it (like I had seen some moms in TV-shows do) and that was that.

Curious. I've always had the impression that the pressure on girls to mature quickly is a lot greater than on boys (there's a reason why Wendy has to leave Neverland, and Peter gets to stay - to be fair to the book, it's portrayed as a curse, but still, it's clear who's the one who is supposed to start thinking about

I'm not a boy, but I remember enjoying Sue Townsend's Adrian Mole Series, and the Bert Diaries by Anders Jacobsson and Sören Olsson.

Hardly.

I've read it five years ago, and the plot is pretty much straight from the book.

Someone who doesn't think it only counts as sex when a penis is involved?

Oh please. Are you trying to tell me that Trump himself would be anything but flattered by the comparison?

And they're feeling so awfully smart about it too, exposing liberals's ~ hypocrisy ~! Context? What context?

He's the type to commit sexual assault without realizing that this is what he's doing.

Eh, he's not super good at maintaining the "fairly respectful"-facade beyond the most superficial interactions, and the way he constantly talks about "smashing pussy" etc. betrays a certain lack of respect towards women in general that usually tends to shine through, even if any given woman isn't around to hear that

If the old racists have done worse, that's only because the young ones have not had the same social sanction yet. Keep Trump a little while longer and you'll be getting there.

It's never a problem in an individual movie, it's a problem when it's in _every_ movie. You can be glad it's no longer the default, and still enjoy the occasional occurence. At least that's how I do it. Love for corny stuff and progressiveness don't have to be a contradiction!

Even the colour coding fits.

Can't speak for everyone, but my pointing and sneering is definitely not directed at people _ seeing_ the Trump parallells, but at the people being offended by them.

Why bother hiding bullshit, if you keep getting away with it anyway?

Not gonna lie, I had to look that one up, and I'm so glad I did.

You know what, I would be horrified if those were the political undertones of the production, because Julius Caesar would be way too classy a comparison for Trump. The whole point is that the plot against him ultimately fails, because the people just love Caesar so much and avenge him. (Okay, actually, the whole point
