Is it just me, or does Woody Allen make the same movie over and over for the most part? So many of them blur together and most of them are annoyingly self-aggrandizing. I don’t quite understand the culture of adulation around this man.

My mother has worked in the film industry a long time. And, I sent her a link to the Kristen Stewart piece from Jez last night. And, this was her response:
Same here. And to be honest, I still wrestle with the fact that Annie Hall is one of my all time favorite movies, but I don’t try to justify loving that movie by saying “Well, I don’t know the people who made these allegations about him so I guess I can’t judge!” I just acknowledge that fact that horrible people can…
I’d respect her more if she just said, “Yeah, I don’t care. I want to make a Woody Allen movie.” She has plenty of company.
Rape culture, everybody.
Yeah. If you’d kept your hot mess of a husband: Alive, employed, managed, fed and clothed and supported and he KEPT stepping out... I can support her and any woman who says, “enough.”
Clearly they didn’t photoshop all the “crap” out- you can still hear the song! Hey-o!!
Smells like a publicity stunt to me.
Outside of the first trimester, drinking a bit is fine. If the woman is showing, then she’s far enough along that she’s not going to be getting fetal alcohol syndrome at your bar.
I’m guessing you aren’t trolling, so:
Plenty of doctors advise that it’s ok to have a drink here and there during pregnancy. Regardless, it’s not ok for others to dictate what a woman does with her body. Period.
There’s actually no scientific evidence that light drinking while pregnant is harmful to the fetus (all the data comes from binge drinking mothers). Approximately two thousand years of women moderately drinking while pregnant (and in plenty of modern cultures, like large swaths of Europe) show pretty well that you can…
The two Nick Broomfield documentaries on her are SO good and SO sad, like honestly I totally understand how she got to the serial killing thing after being sexually and physically abused all her life
According to family history, my aunt was a notoriously shy child to the point where she was often scolded for rudeness. I imagine Caroline has a similar situation. I was a shy kid too, who eventually learned how to hide it entirely (so now a lot of people seem surprised when I say I’m introverted—friendly and…
As someone who had raging resting angry face as a child, I feel ya, Caroline. I feel ya so hard. You are adorable and dignified and one day you’ll use that glare to instantly wither asshole high school classmates, gross men in bars and anyone else who gets in your way.
I’m not trying to co-opt the moment, but her online work and advocacy to find the killers of young women of color and poor women re: Unsolved and “Cold” cases were almost second to none. The exhaustive work of her blog along with her ability to gently but firmly take police and investigative agencies to task for their…
She’s left a blast crater.
Why don’t people say ‘reefer’ anymore? I like ‘reefer.’
