What's with all the requiring of brand purity? If you don't like the new car don't get upset—buy something else. Everything every one of your precious BMW's can do can be done better by something else for cheaper.

Perhaps the previous owner left a magazine or newspaper on top of the system. Add extended period of time / moisture, and voila the image is transposed, but does not add any texture/height to the device.
