Well... it depends on how you look at it, if you play game for 5 years = 60 months and you spend $1200 on it, it means that you’re spending $20 a month... which doesn’t look so bad now, does it?

Well... my main concern is the immersion issue, it’s easy to say that VR is new way to experience things. I want to see how big is my immersion when i sit on sofa with controller, or mouse and keyboard... and my character is running while swinging his arms.
Imo it’s a technology with an immense amount of potential.... However I have few issues with it:
-Would casual gamer buy £300 worth of hardware just to play games?
Though there is significant difference between games and cinema... movie is something you’re barely watching, game is something with what you interact. Imagine driving car that starts turning 2 seconds after you rotate the steering wheel, that’s exactly what low FPS feels like.

You know... i like the mindset of $5 support by 160k people, it costs me nothing but if everyone would think this way it can be overfounded in a brink.
Actually being a gamer is very cheap hobby when you compare it to skiing, snowboarding, etc. :)
