But like, it’s easily sub 1k people right? Like, these aren’t even a percent of the viewing public?

I’m hopeful. I’m so goddamn sick of this weird parallel universe all movies seem to occupy where the pandemic never happened. Are they all taking place in 2019? 2024? Where are these movies set?! I’m anxious for movies to bite the bullet and just deal with it, and I think there are worse ideas than making a movie

The thing that was great/funny about the Tropic Thunder trailers was that they exist in a heightened universe. So something as dumb as Scorcher VI Global Meltdown (a much better title than this) is believable in that ridiculous universe where the actors/directors, etc. are all larger-than-life.

So Silicon Valley?

I get the bit you’re doing, but I gotta say - Post Office was right there.

(with Pattinson still potentially having some more at-bats)“

I get what you’re saying, but Rick and Morty is not really the best analogue here: it’s on cable, where niche shows are meant to live, and where cult-like viewership can manifest in ways that far outstrip linear ratings performance.

I was honestly curious, because I don’t know where “watered-down goth emo” enters into Good Time, Cosmopolis, High Life, or Tenet, among others. But it would semi-accurately describe his work in the Twilights.

the thing is chip shortages come and go (the NES had a notorious chip shortage in the late 80's to the point that some games were famicom chips with a built in adapter) so likely by the end of the switch’s lifecycle the chip shortage won’t be an issue and Nintendo will have a solid fanbase ready to buy again.

Huh?  Who in the Western world has ever said that Americans are open-minded and progressive about sex?

The backlash against the Schumacher films spooked the studio so much that we’re never again going to get a Batman with the slightest capability of enjoying himself.

Kevin Conroy is still the best Batman casting.

Eric andre delivers “Promise you won’t get mad? Them motorcycle fellas that shot your daddy? They work for me.” as if he was confessing to taking the last cookie.

I wish I could remember where, but I saw an interview in which he basically said, “Yeah when I direct, I can’t help but put myself in the show/movie/thing.”

I remember that URL, and being confused for several minutes about why none of the articles were jokes. I’m still not sure I quite understand the genesis of the Satirical News/Genuine Media Analysis, other than “nerds gonna nerd.”

Unfortunately true. I feel like during the switch to Kinja when everyone was saying how this would kill the community, someone on the tech side explicitly told us “you guys represent like, 2% of the site’s traffic.”

Right, exactly!! I just mean that I appreciate the principle of not doomsaying, because there has been a lot of “the A.V. Club is DONE, this is IT” during my eight-and-a-half-year/about-to-close tenure as a freelancer that I had to roll my eyes at, and I don’t mean to dismiss any future AVC writers sight unread, as it

This recap mostly skipped over Kelvin bearing the cross (!) and kicking his Power Team out of the compound.

Is this why Michael Cera was such a great Tobey in Molly’s Game?

Someone needs to get Tom Holland a better agent. Why does he keep trying to break out of Spider-Man by doing the least convincing movies you could imagine?
