Any type of chart is going to be flawed to the point of being nearly useless because its based in a vacuum which doesn’t exist in the real world. That’s why you don’t see governmental organizations (NHTSA, NTSB, USDOT) putting out “official” numbers. They’re estimates.

By your own math “two drinks with dinner” in a vacuum (which is stupid because you’re not considering absorption rate, composition of the drink, time between drinks) would add up to .038 blood alcohol level, which is demonstrably lower than the limit being discussed by the article.

I don’t think a .05 is unreasonable. Two drinks at dinner, if you chugged them on an empty stomach, would put you to approximately a .06 BAC. Assuming standard beer/wine/shot of liquor.

Same. I had to bury my aunt and my uncle in the same week when I was 10 years old. One killed by a drunk driver and the other died of a heart attack the next day. With the prevalence of Uber and Taxis there’s zero reason to drive home after drinking* except for your own selfishness.

I have a friend that works as a police officer and they have the traction control and braking computerized. The instructors can remotely activate/deactivate at will, it sounded pretty neat.
