I feel the same way, though having seen Raiders on the big screen a couple times in the last few years, I now say that Raiders and Last Crusade are both my favorite Indiana Jones movie.

Pragmatically (which is always how I like to think about comedy), I think it's because Kirstie Alley was really, really good at playing that type of story. Watching Rebecca's veneer of professionalism get peeled back to reveal her true insanity was always really funny.

This is a good point, though the other characters were kind of equally flanderized in the later years of Cheers. The show was still really great until the end, though with considerably less heart.
