Counterpoint - the finale would have been ok if the show had ended after season 2. But after 100+ additional episodes of character development, the writers made a lazy choice in reverting every character back to their season 1 selves. I'm not really a fan of his, but good for Scarborough for making whatever deal he made to be able to appear on television every morning dressed in his pajamas.
I don't really mind the length as much as how circuitous he can be sometimes. He can sometimes say a lot without really getting anywhere.

Hillsborough is an incredible piece of filmmaking.
The problem with Simmons writing is his thinking that the more words, the better. I frequently like what he has to say, he just takes SO LONG to get there.
Or 2/3 of a show like that will be pleasant fluff, but mixed in with that, 15 minutes of emotionally devastating radio that ruins the rest of the day.
