Well, it's more like I owed a specific post on today's comic book thread, and then I saw a headline about Mall Walkers and had to post a joke about it. It's sort of a "shave and a haircut" moment.

Look, I bought new sneakers! $79. These are Mall Walkers (TM). They're designed specifically for walking in malls. It's obvious everyone needs 'em.

Remember when Dr. Doom and Magneto cried on 9/11? That happened.

But it's also not just the cost, but also the fact that I'm worn down by 30+ years of superhero comics and either 1) not being surprised by them anymore, 2) being disappointed by them, or 3) being alienated by them. I'm honestly buying more books for my kid than myself right now.

Oh, note: two of Ulysses future visions were supposed to be Age of Ultron and Days of Future Past. Not expys of those stories, but the actual stories. Of course, this had to be explained on Twitter.

Well, that Johnny/Sue romance story isn't going to write itself…

And I'll say that, to his credit, he's not a TOTAL crank and the fact that he would casually chat with us at all was impressive. And I'm sure th at I was more than enough of a fanboy ass on too many occasions. It's just that the wrong moment from a creator can really permanently sour your impression of them. (See

Byrne relied on Patricia Muvihill through a lot of the 90s. Hopefully that wasn't the issue—she also chatted with us on AOL and most of us had boy crushes on her. I even gave her a statue I made in pottery class, because I was that much of a teenage loser.

You know, I was looking forward to Miller finally closing the door on his Dark Knight universe, but he just opened wide the door to DK4. DAMMIT.

Maybe? Link?

I'm on the fence about Hydra Cap. Not the inherent story—I can tolerate a "hero gets corrupted" tale—but the fact that the writing seems off, and also, more and more political metaphoring keeps getting shoehorned into the story and I'm trying to reduce the political stream that's constantly shot at me.

Go watch "The Nice Guys." Nixon has a memorable appearance in that.

It's been so long (20 years!) I can't solidly remember. Sometimes he was nice, sometimes not. A high point was him sending me an autographed book. A low point was him publicly berating me on a message board over a story element in Generations that I didn't understand because I missed a single line of dialogue that

I haven't. Maybe I should. Every so often, I peek in the forum, and…yeah.

Superman & Batman: Generations.

They've already announced "Secret Empire" as next summer's event, which should be the climax of Hydra-Cap.

You know, that's a damn good question. Terry Austin on Byrne was magic. Byrne on Byrne is shit, or at least it was in 1996 onward.

I had an egg explode in my face after I took it out if the microwave. So that's my morning.

If they post at 1 a.m., you have to wait awhile.
