His prior appearances were great. He was so good as one of the "What Is Love?" guys it was scary. (Poor Tom Hanks tried but couldn't move quite right.) And I'm sure everyone knows he auditioned for the show in the '80s but wasn't picked.

Agreed. Best I can figure, they realize that a decade between the movie and the sequel was a mistake and way too much time, and given that most of Ferrell's output during that time didn't quite measure up, they have to give people reason to think that this isn't going to be Blades of Glory or Land of the Lost, etc.

- Sr. Butthead, como es Juan? (Holding up a picture that says Juan es alto)
- Uh, uh, guacamole.
- No, no. Sr. Beavis, como es Juan?
- Heh, heh, spaghetti.
- GODDAMNIT, you two have been in this class all year and the only Spanish you know is what you learned at Taco Bell. And Beavis hasn't even got that right!

Why do you keep posting a picture of Martin Freeman on these posts?

Husker Du would be pretty badass too, though at this point the bad blood between Bob Mould and Grant Hart is so thick and long-lasting and seemingly divorced from any actual causes that I'm aware of, I just have no hope that it happens.

The Toby/Josh plot strains credulity a bit, only because it's implied in a second season episode that Toby is a lawyer (which usually doesn't figure in, though it would explain why a communications guy was the key player in picking a Supreme Court Justice I guess). Shouldn't he have known the pertinent law on

Didn't Frakes direct like a half-dozen episodes?

I always thought it was kind of crazy that Kira Roessler and Mike Watt were married for what, nine years? Both were my favorite parts of their respective groups.

The Azerrad book makes the point that Black Flag's live albums are actually their best recordings, since they actually had to perform as an ensemble on them. Between First Four Years, Damaged, Live '84 and Who's Got The 10 1/2, I pretty much feel like that covers them well.

I felt the same way at first, but you just have to listen to it five times or so before you start to appreciate it. Which is easy enough considering how good the music is.

I bought all of the Minutemen stuff on Amazon MP3 a few weeks back when all the albums were $5.00 (except Double Nickels, which I already had). I think it's about the farthest thing from pop music ever devised, which is to say that it's bad background music. But incredibly great music nonetheless! They took that Pink

There's a box set I would totally buy. If they could fix some of the production problems too I wouldn't complain.

Don't know that I have much to say about this one. As with all Larry Sanders episodes, there's plenty of good jokes, and a nice look at Hank and Darlene's relationship, showing how the paternal thing connects to his sexual attraction for Darlene. And I always like it when Artie mentors women on the show, despite his

Well, they did give her character a last name. Quite a few of the backstage characters never got one.

They did have an episode where Phil invited hot models to phony auditions for acting work on the show, and then had to book one of them as a guest when the scheme was figured out. And it was awful.
