Worse is that if Tesla finally gets it working in several years, those who bought FSD package in 2016 will have a car with ridiculous mileage, wear and tear and probably will be in the market for either a new Tesla or something else by that time.

A large part of this has been the United States/Canada etc practically refusing to do ethical business with African nations where a lot of these resources are located.
Chinese EV makers haven’t figured out how to make cheap EVs, the Chinese government not only subsidizes buyers but also heavily subsidizes the companies that make them. That and the labor to make them are cheap there as well is why Chinese EVs cost far less.
That’s why you should have checked Sam’s Club instead of Costco, friend.
