CP just for the asshole who took one perfectly nice, legendary luxury car known for bulletproof reliability and comfort, and ruined it entirely. Do this to your Honda Accords and VW Jettas--don’t go out and destroy our beloved LS430s!

x2—I can also picture those bolsters beginning to fray pretty quickly for our more rotund Audi TT operators.

Sadly, $15k is just too much to ask for a French hatch that hasn’t quite hit the nostalgia numbers in the U.S. that it needs to. The interior is rad as hell and 128 #hrsprs is probably enough to have plenty of fun bombing around in this go kart, but under $10k would be far more reasonable. A reluctant CP.

This is the correct answer, I applaud your ability to resist the inner-Jalop.

Truly shocked that the University of Maryland has managed to dodge this bullet!

Just pulling your leg haha, only ask because I actually did used to have an 87, albeit thankfully with the relatively solid AW4. Mine also had that rare factory rear D44, which ended up selling for as much as the rest of the Jeep when I parted it out 2 years ago.

I actually saw the Pig when I visited the AMG factory in Affalterbach a few years back. They even cold-started it in preparation to move it for an event they had planned the next day. Was pretty wild hearing that thing start and listen to the idle bounce around as it aired up its suspension. Insane machine.

Who’d have guessed that I would spend 14 minutes of my morning watching a video about a French minivan with an F1 motor in the back? I can’t even speak French.

Though I will say this Jeep is a hair overpriced, I’m actually more turned off by these mom-and-pop dealers than any other factors here. I would far prefer to buy from a single PO on Craigslist than hit one of these sketchy corner lot spots. Scenario: Jeep traded in at a mainstream MFR dealer, auctioned (potentially

What if I owned a 1987?

Hmph! Okay then, I stand corrected. I will happily give a nod to the special effects crews, in that case, for properly smashing this ZJ beyond recognition.

Nice article! I am fascinated by this stuff and those ZJ’s really have aged well. This guy Oleg has a darn nice one, and good taste to boot. Nothing too flashy, meaty (but not oversized) tires on those beautiful OEM wheels. I’ve always loved the Orvis edition two-tone interior.

Weren’t the V10 TDIs the motors that were hilariously easy to service?

But man, that shifter boot alone is worth the purchase. Right?

I thank your stepdad for his bold sacrifice and admire his perseverance in continuing to own those two piles.

Interesting, until you said something I hadn’t even noticed. And I, too, was confused in thinking that you were referring to the spokes themselves being convex. Now that I compare the two I think I’m digging the smoother look of these Type II’s in your article. Wheels, man, fascinating!

Serious question: how has this held up for you?

Lookin’ pretty decent here...

ahh this is indeed nice

Good point
