Yeah, that’s the thing. A lot of people have this “well it’s their fault they’re fat” mentality which, even if it were true (which sometimes yeah it is albeit complicated) and the US wasn’t a culture with a billion mechanisms in place to encourage everyone to be fat (especially when poor), I just was always taught

I don’t know, I think it’s complex — I think for my dad, that feeling of initial failure, being behind the group, made him put all his energy into catching up. I think there was probably someone shaming him, even if it was just himself. Whatever it was, it worked for him. For many others, it just doesn’t work with

This sort of fat hate from the greys illustrates how not to be:

Hey so, you don’t have to listen to me, and I don’t have the sources handy, but a lot of studies show that if you want to work on your health, focus on healthy eating and exercise independent from weight loss. You may lose weight as a result, but your body will be healthier if that’s not the focus. Like you can see

No no no no no no no... That is NOT what she’s saying at all. She even spoke about learning from their experience. She was saying, roll up your sleeves and take whatever job you can get if you’re so concerned about being able to provide for your family in light of your fall from grace. “Normal” people have to take

I didn’t feel she was belittling these jobs but in the context of entitled men in a ‘high powered job’ for the entitled - this is a huge come down. Having to actually serve people . I used to be a cleaner and don't find this offensive in the least - I would lol if LCK had to clean my flat for a living.

:(

As someone who worked at Starbucks for seven years I can tell you that this actually does happen. We had one guy start as a barista, part time, who had been the head of a Fortune 500 company, and lost his job after he got into heroin. He worked as hard as anyone, was humble when he was able to contribute something

That’s not what she’s saying.

Why is it so hard for so many people to just not be an asshole to (fat) people?!?!

You can choose to have a small percentage of your paycheck deposited into an investment account that purchases stock in the company at a discounted price.

Oh sorry, I misread your point.

Yeah she’s not shitting on them, but obviously going from being a CEO to being a barista is a reversal down the chain of command. And more than that, there are about a million and one barista positions available, just like retail positions and server positions. Doesn’t make them less important or difficult, just that

Seriously. CK could probably still make a bundle consulting for movie/tv writing. He could quietly fund projects behind the scenes. He could devote himself to non-public charity work. There are SO MANY ways he could probably profit from his name and talent that wouldn’t cause public outcry.

Why do you read that as a dig against Starbucks? She’s just pointing out there are other jobs available these guys can work if they can’t handle the responsibility of being a CEO or media personality.

I don’t think she’s shitting on them.  She’s just pointing out there are options other than “continue receiving five figures for a single night of standup work” and “homeless.”  People (read:men) act like if these guys aren’t immediately restored to their former glory, their poor wife and kids (who no one seems to

And there are plenty of women who do belong in the boardroom.

I don’t understand the whole “path to redemption” thing that gets peddled. Nobody is stopping CK, or Lauer or anyone else from earning millions of dollars except the market. CK made millions of dollars because people liked hearing his thoughts and words. Now, our collective revulsion means we don’t want to pay to hear

A white man do a job that involves labor? NO! They refuse to do that! They’re too fragil- I mean, manly to handle any kind of physical task.

1. That’s still too cushy of a job.
