No, they had renewed it months before covid hit just like GLOW and were set to start filming their second season soon when showtime decided to rescind the show’s renewal. The show had also been up for several awards including emmys for Kirsten.

It had been renewed, but was unrenewed because of COVID.

Except that show was fantastic and showtime should be ashamed for canceling it

[Smacks TV]

Now playing

Remember a few years ago when the CEO of FX made his comment about “Peak TV”? This show feels like the perfect encapsulation of that concept.

This sort of reminding me of On Becoming a God in Central Florida!

Great post! This articulates what I felt about the ending really well. I don’t mind a ‘bad guy with a gun’ ending either but in this case, it was the right way for the show to go.

I really don’t get how a tidier resolution is more satisfying. Erin died because:

Yeah, I didn’t find it a cheap twist at all, they’d been planting the seeds for a while and a lot of the general predictions about it included Ryan as a probable suspect.

I kind of presumed some would push back on the Ross kid being guilty of the murder, but while watching while it was unfolding, so many fragments of scenes earlier in the series started to make more sense, because without the context, they were just odd and curious. I didn’t think it a cheap twist especially given how

what they have done with Ian and Poppy is magnificent.

I am taking it as a personal affront that the Sharon Van Etten/Angel Olsen collab isn't listed here. best song of the damn year

Between the (surprising) praise this show has gotten and “Ted Lasso,” I think I might have to spring for Apple TV+.

Just as a general comment on the show, what they have done with Ian and Poppy is magnificent. It would have been so easy to remain simple with them and make especially Poppy this generic do-gooder, but instead by they both are these deeply flawed people where you can see why they would function best together.

Hannibal fan art deserves much better than the U.S. Capitol.

I think that moment of panic in Luke’s eyes when he couldn’t open the car door was a nod to the fact that Paul being out of the picture isn’t actually a cure for Luke. Paul may not be the best thing for Luke’s brain chemistry, but at this point, Luke has issues that can’t easily be solved. As does Paul.

exactly, this show drives me insane because I really think it think that Paul’s behaviour is somewhat ok. I skipped out on season 2, so maybe it got better at showing how abusive he is.

I love this show, it’s very nuanced and a great portrait of a family. But Paul...man, that guy needs some work. His kid almost died in the first season and he ignored a lot of his symptoms or yelled at him, and now the same? I can’t imagine it getting much better, especially as the daughter grows older - how could he

stressful situations in life don’t generally equal your parental figure yelling that you are a fuck up. If your boss hurled such abuse to you, you’d be in your right to officially complain. The fact that it’s fine for a parent to do it, regardless of generations, is insane !

Well, at least Paul is out of the house so his kids aren’t subjected to his hair-trigger fits of rage and the completely inappropriate things he screams at them.
