Jason keep in mind that Experian (and R.L. Polk, owner of CarFax) are only obtaining registration data on cars with the SAE/NHTSA standardized 17-digit VIN format. This was mandated for 1981 Model Year cars, although I have seen a few 1980's using it also.

A bit of both?  Most automatic systems I’ve used will blast the fan and A/C at full speed until the car hits the set point, then they’ll either shut off or keep the fan speed higher than you want while raising the temperature to keep the set point.  I typically like a low-mid fan speed so my eyes don’t get dried out…
