As far as crowds at car launch parties that include free crab cakes, booze and a Lenny Kravitz concert go, that may as well be nobody.
At the time, sure. But the SA-2 was like a rocket powered school bus with broken power steering. Modern SAMs are many orders of magnitude more maneuverable than any human can withstand, stealthy aircraft or not. That’s not to say they can’t be defeated, but sheer maneuverability is just one component that may not even…
This was the most awkward automotive press event I’ve ever been to, and I’ve been to a bunch of them. The VW employees weren’t really jovial even amongst themselves, which is a bad sign.
Michael, to what extent do you think these release events normally have on the press a new model gets or on its sales? Has anyone quantified that? I ask because you mention that everyone who was going to write an article already had, and they’d seen the pics. Makes the whole thing seem like a pointless waste of money,…
I hope that’s still the case. Maybe that’s where all the F35 funds are going!
After my dad left the airline industry (he was an aircraft mechanic), he got a job with Lockheed Martin. He attended the retirement party of a man who had been with the company for decades, many of which spent in the Skunk Works division. A few of them were talking casually and the guy was asked how amazing the things…
The F35. :)
Boeing loves planes just like us, huge thanks for them digging into it and finding what they could. It is an amazing testament to the company’s already storied past.

Holy shit.
Or after watching the Bama-Ole Miss game until 9 the next morning.
“But Boeing just exclusively provided Foxtrot Alpha with a trove of photos and information for the very first time.”
It’s the fact that each half is 45 minutes plus however much time the ref feels like adding, and even though he says how much he’s adding you still don’t know exactly when it’s going to end. Plus they just start counting from 45 in the second half even though there may have been extra time added in the first half.…
I think it has more to do with the seemingly arbitrary “extra time.”
It’s arguable but potentially Chad Knaus could be considered one given the dominance of Johnson’s multiple championships and various races where his car pulled far, far ahead of the rest of field.
So you’re saying it’s the emissions equivalent in daily use of about 1,000 cheater TDIs, right?
Hahaha. My favorite comment type. Translation: “It’s not that bad - with continuous and careful care, you can get 50K miles of low torque, not very exciting driving before it eats itself.”
