It's most likely some sort of hard cast projectile and not authentic from a metallurgy standpoint to actual WW2 AP rounds. It's almost certainly not explosive of any kind either due to the fact that each round would have to go through then whole NFA process with tax stamps etc. just a heavy and hard projectile moving…
