Yes, therapy does help people with borderline personality disorder. In particular DBT, which Pete has talked about, is backed by scientific evidence as a highly effective treatment.

And also, you don’t have to pity him in order to not criticize him for getting therapy.
His dad was a fireman who died on 9/11. His mental health diagnosis, borderline personality disorder, is closely linked with trauma (and genetics). So, not quite “of his own making.”
Oh.
The headline and article give the impression that it’s weak or babyish to get therapy.
Well said. And I’m sorry that you deal with all of those symptoms. It sounds really hard, and I’m glad you fight for yourself. I wish mental health care was easier to access in this country, and nobody should be ashamed to get it.
It’s also insulting to everyone else who seeks therapy (or thinks about doing so).
In addition, Pete has talked about having frequent suicidal thoughts, which he works really hard to manage, including through therapy.
Belittling someone for seeking therapy to process their own experiences is...something. Pete has been open about the fact that he has borderline personality disorder, a serious mental health condition with a high rate of suicide and other bad outcomes if not treated by a therapist.
Minnesota congressional candidate Michelle Fischbach.
Just want to say that “edgelord” is my favorite insult to have emerged this decade.
FYI, you’re just linking to the same article that we are all commenting on here. (Seems like maybe you were intending to link to some other info)

I wish that someone like Tom Steyer would drop out of the race, and put his money and energy into something like what Abrams is working on—election fairness. And then put his leftover money into supporting someone like Abrams to run for office.
I think I occasionally suffer from a form of “loneliness dysmorphia,” where when I’m feeling sad or stressed or something, I think “I am all alone and I no one to call,” but then when I’m feeling better, I can make a list of like 5 people that I could have called on for help in that situation.
My son peed in the cat litter box within the first hour of us having it. He wasn’t even that young, and he just shrugged when I asked him why he did it, like it didn’t even merit an explanation.
I am enraged at your mother-in-law on your behalf.
“In fact, why do they succeed, Tucker? Because they studied their butts off and that’s what the inner city kids have to start doing.”
My daughter used to do a lot of competitive science activities in middle school, and the vast, vast majority of the kids competing were people of color (and, based on the imperfect metric of “have parents who speak with accents,” I assume that a large majority of them were immigrants as well).
