She shouldn’t play this role for the same reason she shouldn’t be cast as any iconic male lead, she is not a man.
Not only that, but when you focus on the actual quality of the film over the marketablity, you already have a built in fan base and a much higher probability of gathering a following.
I mean really. Casting a recently coughed up hairball could give more emotional depth than her, there are buckets of trans actresses with more talent. It’s actually a pretty low bar.
If any trans actress was ever allowed to play Irish woman, then this wouldn’t even be a converstion. It’s because all the cis woman roles belong to cis women. And all the trans roles mostly belong to... cis women. If Hollywood is going to make the distinction, then they need to keep those few and far between roles…
