There’s been a few Shining games that have used a modified Valkyria engine. They were just ok. In my opinion, Shining Force IV or any “real” Shining game cannot exist as long as Camelot is not working with Sega. Valkyria has a team more directly linked to Skies of Arcadia and Phantasy Star than Shining.

Youkai come from Japanese Shinto traditions so are difficult to fit into a Judeo-Christian box but on average a youkai would be considered mischievous if not malevolent.
