I already have an all aluminum vehicle, it’s 22 years old and is rated for 68city/74highway.

That engine is rather junky after looking at how other small 3 cylinders are made (I’ve owned two 3bangers in the states, a G1 from a metro and an ECA1 in the Insight).
3cyl engines should *not* be dual overhead cam. The whole point is low bearing resistance and low friction from having fewer moving parts. The G1 is…
I live a few minutes away from David Tracy if you wanna come drive it. Mine’s a 2000 which is the one year *all* of them were manual.
Thanks for this. Gold Jerry, Gold!
Love stories like these. Those people were kicked, held down, finally rid themselves of people that didn’t care for them and fraudulently wronged them.
Get an old Insight. They are made of Aluminum so age isn’t really an issue as long as mileage is decent. Weighs *500lbs* less than the smart you thought was nimble and light. Manual transmission if desired.
Steves European Auto in Waterford Mi, supposed to be a famed VW/Audi/Lambo shop. I have a 1980 Rabbit Diesel 4spd 3+E and the engine mount in the rear broke. My garage was full and it was winter so I took it to Steves. Told them I know the car is old and a junker, I’m just driving a few miles around the house and back…
2000 Insight, $2800 used with 120k miles. Aluminum never-rusting frame, 68city 74hwy on the sticker. Runs without hybrid batteries.
Illinois, Never took a driving test.
No one mentions the “trying” aspect. Like the big vehicles are *trying* way too hard to get decent economy while the smaller cars are no longer trying. They don’t need anything extra because they get “good enough” fuel economy.
People doing something Merchants here don’t like? I don’t believe this is illegal or a problem at all.
Ship-Carrying-Ship? Is that like a Truck-Boat Truck?
Ford can only dream of the 500K miles or more that is easily possible out of the TDI’s.
Same, if we can get the platform over here, then it should be a matter of sourcing a diesel V6 from an Audi TDI and getting engine mounts and a transmission sourced for the manual.
I kinda was excited about their return due to all the complaints about harsh rides and not enough comfort. I thought, perhaps this was another Lancer Evolution type car where it’s focus on performance simply made people hate it’s daily driver capabilities.
You are not alone, there are some people out there that collect random certifications like Pokemon cards.
Yup, gonna have to clear my browser history and start my first “J” site as something else so when I come to a new tab and go “J-Tab-Enter” I won’t land on Jalopnik.
Guess it’s about time to go then... :(
2800 I spent on the 2000 Insight back in 2015 still going strong. Aluminum never-rusting car. 3 banger manual trans with disabled hybrid battery.
This whole banning ICE thing is really just short-sighted and dumb.
