I disagree regarding the vacuum gauge. In the pursuit of MPG I have actually installed vacuum gauges on cars that have no forced induction.

When tuning both of my Evo’s I noticed the differential lockup on that specific car was very worried about negative G forces which shouldn’t matter if AWD doesn’t help braking.
When looking into the maps I realized the different settings had different characteristics which made it more obvious what was going on.

For me totally the unobtainium... Lancia Delta Integral and Renault R5 Turbo 2. Would kill for either.
For me I wasn’t a car guy until I was 18 but I did drive a manual 1995 Ford Escort. Loved the stick and my auto-driving roomate listened to me when I said he should buy a stick. Got a random call at work, to come pick him up and drive his new car home. I was meh, then he said it was a 2006 Mustang GT so off I went.
I have always been a fan of odd cars but will say the Lancer Evolution is my favorite having owned both the IX and X. Previously I was in love with my gutted 97 Cobra but the Evos changed/ruined me.
Docs? You mean interns....
Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution FQ 470 MR
Props to another fellow developer. However after writing an Erlang NIF module in C++ and dealing with the myriad of ways the interpreter would crash even though I was managing locks and memory correctly lead me to really distrust(read dislike) the language.
Whatever replaces the alpha 4C will not have a buyer either.
As a major Evo fan I couldn’t agree more. Owned an IX and X that tore me away from the domestic V8 scene. Have never been so impressed as the day I drove my 97 Cobra an hour away to test drive the IX. More power and torque at nearly every rpm and that amazing AWD setup made it an instant purchase decision.
I guess to each their own, the SHO and the vdubs we’re the ones I was specifically looking at. My 83 rabbit needs a new front bumper, the black is peeling off. And there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that Yamaha engine in the Ford. After owning Cobras and Lancer Evolutions (ix and x) I’m having the most fun with…
I had haxor back when I lived in Illinois (before realizing michgian was amazing and leaving IL behind for good).
You’re wrong about all wheel drive not working when braking or off throttle. Go read about the different types of differentials and check out what the difference is between a 1.5 way and a two-way differential. Hint, amazing all-wheel-drive systems with active Center differentials are definitely working when you were…
You are missing out. I mean this as politely as possible :)
You havent driven a good turbo 4. QI went from a 97 Cobra running 12.6s to a 2006 Evo Ix 5spd with some mods and it literally had more power everywhere in the rpm band. Focus St gearing is also way taller, my Evo was 4.69 to 1 final drive and it changed the whole character with near-infinite traction to use the power.…
Holy crap are you right. I went from 98 Roush GT to 97 Cobra to 06 Evo Ix, 12 Evo X, a forgettable 14 Veloster Turbo, to a highly modded 03 Jetta TDI and holy cow all I can say is Im now in love with Turbo diesels. I am so crazy about the 1.9 ALH with a manual but wish they put it in something more sporty coming from…
I’m going to guess that it was either the fact that he started up his 2006 with a nice V8 and realized the new one sounded like crap. Or Ford in their Infinite Wisdom picked a guy who couldn’t fit in the car and he didn’t like it.
It could be that I traded a Mustang Cobra in for a Lancer Evolution while working for Ford Motor Company, but I got used to giving people in their Lincoln’s thumbs down since they would assume that my Factory body Evo was in fact a hundred horsepower Civic with a big wing. These clueless Ford managers in their…
Have you ever been on any auto enthusiast forums? I usually grab a bag of popcorn watching these newly enlisted Marines planning a $30,000 build with all of their enlistment bonus money. Usually by the time you reach about page 15 or 20 on the thread you’ll find the vehicle exploded, the Marine is out of money, and…
All-wheel drive, manual transmission, turbocharged engine. Pick any two. All three are reserved for rally cars and vehicles above 6500 gross vehicle weight.
