Lots of people sleep with people and never call, that isn't noteworthy or joke-worthy.

Finally! My hours of scouring of TV Tropes and laughing silently to myself pay off!

And that's the genius of the joke, it plays both ways equally well. Like a picture of a vase that turns into two heads who are actually rapists.

SILENCE IS NOT ENTHUSIASTIC CONSENT.

Rape includes being made to penetrate someone without consent.

There are a lot of issues around here, but the most basic is this: silence is not consent for sexual activity. No one should hear 'do what ever' as 'go ahead and fuck this guy'.

Ever been in that situation? I have. Its not like you have perfect control over your genitals. Ever get an erection when you didnt want one?

This seems like an appropriate time to bring up the fact that men are raped far more often then people think. And that he should be extended the same credibility that anyone would extend to a woman in his place.

"the underlying assumption that sexual consent is implied just from sitting silently in a room, fully clothed, performing a public art piece"

This is so brilliant, it perfectly illustrates the absurdity of that assumption.

The woman who did this to him is sick. I am amazed at LaBeouf. I am ashamed to admit that my first thought was, "Why didn't he stop it?", then upon thinking that it is clear that what he went through highlights what is wrong with our world. I should NOT be asking "Why didn't he stop it?" and I SHOULD be asking "Why

Fuck you and fuck this to the max. Do you also wonder why female rape victims did not stop their assailant or yell for help?

I'm not victim blaming but *insert words literally blaming the victim*.

Both men and women can become physically aroused while being raped. I'm not sure if there are stats out there for men, but in women it happens about a quarter of the time. Some people's genitals will just do that involuntarily. Arousal does not equal consent.

How in any way is that relevant?

If he says he was raped, maybe we should just take his word for it? No matter who you are, if you claimed you are raped, people should listen.

Piers Morgan - the human equivalent of a yeast infection. You might know about its origin, but it's sometimes hard to get rid of and when you're not careful, it might even return.

Does it fucking matter if he did? Do rapes only count if the victim put up a goddamned fight?

"But what about all the rest of it? The controlling, the gaslighting, the financial abuse, the name-calling, the minimizing...is there any of that? Domestic violence is so much more subtle than just physical violence. I don't think she even knows that those things are violent as well."

This just makes it abundantly clear to me that there's a lack of knowledge in general about domestic violence. They ask her if he's ever been violent with her before, and she says no - that may or may not be true. That's not for us to decide. But what about all the rest of it? The controlling, the gaslighting, the
