Almost no one lives in the red parts of no one. There is a tiny blue blotch on the coast where LA is and there are like 20 congressional districts there, despite how it may look when zoomed out. Population is concentrated on the coast and that is where all the blue is. Obama had nearly 70% of CA's popular vote.
