The show got less boring when he left the show because…it was getting to the part in the comic books when more things happen. Plus, did you notice how the storytelling became less consistent and everybody went stupid to rally against Dale? That's because character became less important and they just started shoving

Their inclusion would be a response to audience concerns that have existed since the first film came out in 1977. Not those who complained after they first announced cast members for Episode VII.

But some actors have an innate ability to make their character feel like they have something going on behind their eyes and have a past, regardless of what the script says. She strikes me as that type of performer.

I agree there. I don't see why he was "tossed aside" so quickly. Why they couldn't have had him back in the later films (With the suggestion being, "Look - this guy didn't die and he was cut in half! Must be that being Sith makes you extra awesome at stopping death just like people are saying!") rather than Dooku

While true to an extent, it's also because he had one of the few scenes that felt like Star Wars in a Star Wars movie people waited over 15 years for. And he said and did nothing stupid to mess it up (which is a benefit of not having much dialogue or screentime).

Well, that's a more valid subjective take, as far as I can tell.

Of course, we don't fully know what character she's playing but if Lupita Nyong'o can't pull off an aura of mystery with whatever character it is, this franchise is more f#cked than I previously realized.

That's exactly what I mean. Prominent rumors of her casting, prominent rumors that Abrams wanted a more diverse cast, the suggestion that there were at least a few more notable roles to be cast (even before they announced that, I believe)…

I don't think it was pushed by protests in the least. I know I must be the first to say it (ever), but I think people online are often quick to judge and want to have the first, most definitive, most attention-grabbing reaction. So they can feel important.

Darth Maul only had like three lines and barely a character arc and he's now one of the most iconic characters from the prequels. If you want my opinion, most of the characters should barely speak and just serve the plot. Then they immediately become iconic. Which is great because that's how most female characters

Yeah - but "just standing there" has made him iconic. I've heard people go on and on about both how amazing he is and, in response, how pointless he is. Same thing for Darth Maul.

So what I was doing while watching?

Has he?

I hope so! I hope all of these casting announcements for characters are just glorified cameos. And the real stars of the movie are CGI creatures requiring subtitles for their somewhat racist characterizations.

I actually know people with names like this. I actually know dogs with names like this. So if your problem with Darabont is that he gave people names as stupid as they give themselves, I'd say that's not a bad problem to have.

I'm still waiting for something to top Nick Fury: Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Do-gooders finally get their comeuppance? What horrible fate awaits the natives that successfully purged our world of these idiotic youngsters?!

Can't we just get a hologram of Alfred Hitchcock to direct all movies from now on?

Why is it so difficult for crazy people to accept that crazy people exist? Because then they might have to look in a mirror and acknowledge what they are? …Nevermind. Carry on.

You're right. If anything, they should just open/close Season 6 with him staring into a snowglobe.
