Cinemas are similar. I found a woman changing a baby in the back of a screen, in the aisle, whilst the film was still on. She complained 'but I'll miss the film' when I told her she needed to move to the changing room (4 feet from the entrance to that screen). I eye rolled under my breath.

It's not just the Dutch, tbh. I have Belgian family members and they pretty much told us from an early age that they were not ok with us learning German in school (we learnt French instead), and my great-aunt (who lived through the occupation, and had some fairly horrible stories to tell) would chastise us terribly if

"Arise, SEHRRRR Robin of Locksley."

I love you.

Little known facts about Shetland #1: There are no trees on the Shetland Isles because the feckin' wind blew them all over to Norway....

Indeed!

I always wanted to be Ace when I grew up. Still do, if I'm honest...

This. Entirely this. Every culture has it's variation on the 'La-a/Lemonjello/Chlamydia' naming thing, but the main unifier is that they're all used to mock a perceived 'lower class' of person, and that's not cool.

Finally, a universe I can get on board with!

Hey, my mum's opinion, not mine. At the tender age of 7, I was all about smashing merfolk taboos! :)

Your Mom and my Mum have similar views on Disney Princesses. She much preferred my obsession with Belle than my obsession with Ariel, who 'did nothing of note, except moon over a boy'...

French Loyal here. My two favourites from my mates are Dusty Butler and (I kid you not) Sparky Cumming....

Seconded. I cried at her allusion to her mum's dementia, it reminded me of something my dad would say about my grampa before he passed. But she seemed very nervous, and was rambling a little bit. The only thing I can think of (aside from, y'know, the free bar) is that the speech wasn't rehearsed, and she was having

Having just seen the full length shot (all I had to go on was her E! interview), my sadface is even sadder...

Sienna Miller's dress makes me sad....

I basically just squee'd the same thing to an empty room!

They are defying a whole lot of things, but I'm in no way mad at them....

You and I have similar life experiences. Most of the gay bars I frequented as a single girl were geared towards the LGBT community as a whole, thankfully, but on the few occasions where it was ladies' night I felt a bit... 'other', I suppose. Poser is a good way of describing it.

When my parents got married, the registrar told my dad that the name he'd written down for his mother 'was incorrect', as one of her middle names is Gatherine (it's a family surname) and that "couldn't possibly be right, as no one would name anyone that". Despite my dad's protests that he actually knows how his mum's
