This photo reminds me of a section of “The Nun’s Story,” the book more so than the movie. (I’ve read the book 10 zillion times, but only seen the movie two or three times.) Sister Luke, the nun in question, is a nurse with a qualification in psychiatry, so she is sent to work at an insane asylum for women (as they

ZOMG! I used to hear this song on the radio when I was in France in the 80s! I’ve never seen this video before, though.

Interestingly, (white) “pro-lifers” often argue that abortion in the Black community is “a form of genocide.” Yet they don’t seem to care about Black babies who are already born, nor about the high maternal mortality rate among Black mothers. I’m not surprised, just...bemused.

Aha! The book that inspired much of “Riverdale”’s 4th season, which featured characters named Donna Sweett and Brett Weston Wallis. I knew “The Secret History” was the inspiration, but I didn’t realize the show followed the book as closely as it did.

Because it’s part of the United States.

I couldn’t find seven that I’d actually want. I picked three: the Suze Orman, the Fanny Flagg, and “Antiques on the Cheap.” There’s something about shiny-looking hardcover best sellers that turns me off.

Briefly, it’s “a thing” in the cheese world. You can google “camembert feet” and find all kinds of information about it.

Camembert tastes like feet.

Plus, restaurants in Florida can still serve alcohol. WTF

Do you live in northern lower Michigan or the Upper Peninsula by any chance?

The Starland Vocal Band, had a big hit with “Afternoon Delight” in 1976.

Unlike most of us, he can pay for all the health care he needs. (But Keith Richards will outlive him.)

I was thinking smutty fan fiction.

The 70s and 80s were the beginning of attempts in academia to be more inclusive (of BIPOC and women as creators), question and critique canon formation, and to examine the racism and sexism inherent in many canonical works. Just the beginning. Departments were even more dominated by white men than they are now, and

I was in my late teens/early 20s. Yes, the pubic hair thing was a problem, too, but mostly I thought I’d never be able to lose enough of my belly to look halfway decent in those suits.

OMG, yes! Except there aren’t any Sanderson sisters in our branch of the family. My husband has 4 brothers, no sisters, and we don’t have any kids.

Since I’ve been married, my last name is a common English name, Sanderson. I have to spell it more often than you might think, because many people hear “Anderson.” So I say, “Ssssanderson, s-a-n, d-e-r, s-o-n. I had to spell my “maiden” name all the time. It’s only five letters long, but can be spelled in many

I must register my absolute hatred for those high-cut 80s era legs. For a few years in the 80s, it was really hard to find swimsuits that weren’t cut that way. I looked terrible in those suits. The shape of my belly is such that even at my thinnest, it would be revealed very unflatteringly by those high cut leg holes.

Watch out for that tree!

I just channel my teen self when I watch Riverdale. That way I avoid the dirty grandma ickiness.
