Jane Austen/Austin/city in Texas/Dallas is the only connection I can make, too. In the photo from FP 1's yearbook, the caption identifies her as plain ol’ Jane Dallas. I didn’t know about the Brown until Betty said it in this episode. I think the Brown is random...but maybe someone else can figure it out.

“Beronica” is a good-size fanfic ship. I don’t quite buy it, though. I’m fine with the other same-sex ships, but this one just feels off to me. (Yes, despite their kiss in the very first episode.)

Oh, wow, I didn’t even think of the FP1 replacing FP2 angle. FP1 will be there for Jughead and Jellybean in the way he should have been there for FP2? Serpent King Emeritus?

Why can’t Mark Consuelos leave instead? Nothing against him, but I really hate the Hiram Lodge character who seems to exist only to mess things up for the gang and have weird, icky, incestuous tension with Veronica.

Definitely not shocking. As soon as I saw Dupont in front of that window, I was just waiting for him to jump and half-expecting FP or someone to get between him and the window.

Preppy style is kind of ugly in a gauche way...or easily can be if you mix the wrong elements use the wrong colors. Donna exemplifies one way not to do it. (I lived through the “Preppy Handbook” fad of the early 80s and have been getting the LL Bean catalog at least that long.)

Even if it is a novel, we don’t know that. After watching the last 4 episodes, I think Jughead faked his own death with Betty’s full cooperation. F.P., Archie, and possibly Veronica are partly in on it, but only partly. Meanwhile, the Stonies are trying to frame Betty, et al. for the murder while thinking that Betty,

She sure as hell can’t trust her mother. Archie is iffy, but Veronica should be trustworthy.

It wouldn’t flash red.

Bwah-hah-hah!!! I personally participated in all those acts prior to 1987. OK, millennial! :D

The writers have left themselves little openings through which they might sneak out; there’s something conspicuous about their refusal to actually show us Jughead’s corpse.

I know several people who had sex in 1981 and 1982. I think I could even find someone in my Facebook friends list who had sex in 1979!

Anyone who calls his hat a “beanie” and his “beanie” “iconic” deserves a death penalty.

It’s not the first time she’s worn that sweater. I think she wore in in S3 sometime, but it could have been in the first half of S4.

Insert lame coronavirus/lyme disease joke here.

Jughead keeping secrets from Betty and “protecting” her without her input is an ongoing issue in their relationship. When Jughead instantly caved to Brett’s threat of releasing the tapes to “destroy” Betty, it instantly reminded me of Penny Peabody’s threat in S2. Doesn’t Jug know by now that Betty can survive a sex

Depends on the age of consent in whatever state Riverdale was in.

The Stonewall storyline is like “School Ties” (which was beautifully photographed but badly plotted), or maybe “Dead Poets Society” without Robin Williams.

Riverdale is completely ridiculous but only ever tiptoes up to the edge of the supernatural. So this ain’t gonna happen. Unfortunately.

Cheronica is a strong ship in fanfics. Not a big one like Choni, but solid. (I’m  kind of embarrassed to be deploying ship names so casually, but dammit, I own my...fangirlhood!) (P.S. I’m way too old for this stuff, at least in theory.)
