I say bring it — picked up a 2017 Volt last year and having a great time. My commute is ~75 miles a day, 70% of that is pure EV. So basically I have a 70% immunity to any hike in gas prices. A tank (8.9 gallons) will last me about 5 weeks with that level of driving. Going to be kind of funny watching all the

Personalized plates are exactly that... personal. Didn’t cost you a dime, and it already helps fill the coffers of the state coinpurse a little more.

GM has done pretty much zero advertising for anything EV, I’ve never seen a Volt or Bolt ad. I did wind up getting a 2017 Volt last year, and it surprises people just how much pep it has, and the quality of the interior. There are lots of things GM could do to push EV sales to the next level, but they suffer from

You would figure that anyone driving an EV would understand the very basic concept of the faster you go on highway speeds the lower economy you are going to get. Going 80 mph, you got exactly the range you should have. With a lead foot you will easily see a 20 to 25% reduction in range. This is just physics and has

You really don’t know too much about liquid cooling as it applies to cars or computers do you? nvidia GPU’s have operating ranges from deep negative temperatures all the way up to about 100C

You mean that little static noisemaker that’s on my 2017 Volt isn’t solving any of the problems they said it would? And that people are just as stupid and selfish on foot and behind the wheel as they ever were?

Speaking of “a bunch of old men”: What’s it like being the cookie cutter crotchety old man?

If by his lead... you mean trying to change the world for the better? People are so riled up over a speedometer, in the grand scheme of things means nothing.

If you bought a Nest Wifi thermostat and didn’t take advantage of the web interface or programming it for the whole week from your phone or computer, that’s nobody’s fault but your own for not reading the instruction manual.

Gen2 Volt owner here... and you’d be wrong. 300ft-lbs at 0rpm, and I save a crapton of money/time not buying gas. Plus it’s the 2nd sexiest EV you can buy. (gen2 at least)

Economies of scale.. That’s the concept that tesla is working with here that allows for an overall lower price of a battery unit.

Now playing

Weird — my 2017 volts EVSE is 240V compatible from the factory, for the cost of about $30 I made an adapter plug that allows me to plug it into my dedicated 240V line. Whipped up my own little invention to make the process semi automated as well:

Outside of the whole autopilot aspect... anyone get annoyed that the guy who’s running the dashcam looks like he’s less than a car length behind the Tesla? I remember being taught keep about 2 seconds worth of space, easy way is look how fast the lane markers are flying by, there should be about 2 seconds worth

He had another job... that he quit of his own free will. Sucks to be him, but this is a classic case of “look before you leap”

I can’t wait till I’m an old coot and have little to live for... then I can do awesome stuff like this. Maybe if a few shady salesmen got their ass beat we wouldn’t see the proliferation of scams like this. Not sure about you guys, but when you lie, waste peoples time, and basically scam them... you deserve to get

it’s like amazon was reading my mind or something because not 12 hours before I was going through my kitchen cabinets and tired of looking at the sad mismatched pair of tupperware I had. Bought!

My 2008 Z06 had something exactly like this, vacuum pump actuated flaps in the canister exhaust. Stock it was setup to “open” at 3000rpm, pull a fuse and it was open all the time. It was indeed *loud* solution? Wireless FOB that controlled a fuse that could be toggled off and on at will. Great for coming home late

Everyone is outraged, but everyone also seems to forget, most of the people taking these loans at these rates, under these circumstances are mostly due to the fact that they have burned more than a few previous creditors.

The reason I bought my 2017 volt was because it was the first Electric car that really caught my eye. I’m a typical american in many ways, and if I’m spending 30K, I want it to look good damn it.

I’ve owned one as well — and it’s quirky, different, and yes sometimes difficult. At the same time they can be fun as hell at autoX events.
