I thought car wash mode in a MB is just an automated text message to your assistant/servant to wash the car.
This hasn’t been true for a long time. The thrashing they take from Windows VMs far exceeds anything a console does. Especially when the active apps can be slept in LPDDR while the console is in standby.
Trust me, professionals hit SSDs HARD. Thats’ why the web and modern Internet works so well.
The “built-in” SSD will almost certainly be some species of M.2, direct-soldered to the mainboard. But on the plus side, when they work, they REALLY work.
All hard drives have a finite lifespan. Heck, old games used batteries for save data that had a lifespan even if you’re not reading/writing on them. This is not a new issue for a game console.
An SSD will last longer than the console would be relevant. Current ssd technology should have them lasting upwards of 10-15 years, as long as sony isnt using old outdated ones.
The lifespans issues you hear about are from enterprises that access the drives 24/7 or people who have early generation SSDs. A modern SSD in a consumer rig will take several decades before problems start to crop up. Even in enterprise solutions, modern SSDs can last a decade. The tech has come a looong way.
I am aware of this limitation and take precautions against it on my PC, but to be honest I have no anecdotal evidence from myself or those I know of actually hitting that write threshold on commercial drives. (That said, I have bought mostly Samsung and ignored cheaper crap). Have you/others you know run into this…
That’s really not an issue. In something like a game console where you’re not constantly writing small bits of data, wear leveling will take care of things. Unless you’re constantly writing data to the whole drive, and I’m talking way way more than any game player is likely to be, we’ll be at the next generation…
Awake with a baby who hates sleep.
Where were you last night when I needed you?
Kick the door twice and it will break it, leaving no door. Hope this helps.
No, I mean bike riders on average can go faster than that on a road bike (on a flat road). Some can even maintain that speed for a longer period, though I’m sure as hell not one of them :-)
This is accurate. I don’t know why people are missing this, but if you pay attention to the ground passing by it’s been painfully obvious ever since the first trailer that the maximum airspeed of a Javelin is maybe 20 mph. The visuals just kick up a lot of drama to make players feel good about their Iron Man suit that…
This is because the flying mechanic has to balance a sense of speed with actual control over your character. That means that the actual flying isn’t as fast as it seems, it simply has speed effects like the edge blurring and wind effects to make it seem fast while still keeping the movement at a speed that allows for…
I do understand the appeal of trying to come up with ‘scientific’ explanations to justify terrible movie/game physics, like all Star Wars’s egregious offenses...
Free falling means you get to hit terminal velocity when the wind dragging force (which depends/increases with velocituy) equals the gravitational force (e.g. weight). Falling while thrusting downwards means the dragging force needs to equal not just the weight but also the additional force added by the thrusters, so…
I quickly burned through all of his available videos. Now waiting for him to upload more. lol
You jerk I have spent hours last night and today watching his videos now.
No, this is bull and it shouldn’t count as a speed record. Air resistance is a core component of speed records. Removing the primary obstacle to the record makes the record worthless.
