The sad part is that it’s fully believable that an actual MAGA person wrote this post.

Honestly I was in my 20s before I realized the abominable snowman in the Bugs Bunny cartoons was a parody of Lenny in Of Mice and Men. “Oooh, a rabbit! And I will love him and hug him and I will call him George.”

Republicans were against taxes, and also worried about the debt. Why aren’t they stopping this nonsense?

It’s not even just that they can raise prices to match the new market price. They must raise their prices to match the new market price. Otherwise everybody would be placing orders, and they’d sell more than they can make. Any plant has a capacity limit. Production ramp-ups don’t just happen overnight. The entire

US steel suppliers raised their prices because with the tariff international steel is more expensive. In essence the cost of US steel is still more because the sell it just below the tariff. Let’s say Chinese steel is $30 per pound and there is a $10 tariff per pound. US suppliers will charge $39 per pound.

When you place a tariff on an imported good, local manufacturers raise prices to match and pocket the profit. They don’t keep prices low to gain a competitive advantage.

Meta comedy has been around since Shakespeare. My favorite line in “Much Ado about Nothing” was when Beatrice complains about how she couldn’t be with a man without a beard, when that line would have been said by a male actor that specialized in playing women, and therefor wouldn’t have had a beard.

Yeah. In fact, the government should just create a special serum of PEDs. They could call it a super solder serum.

The 2nd place guy who got dethroned seemed genuinely happy for the new winner, too. Not something you see often.

I knew guys who were so paranoid about the extra weight that they’d cut down their toothbrushes to just the heads, trim the excess strapping from their rucks, and field strip every MRE we had to take with us just to save a few grams here or there.

You might be surprised at all the crap they are currently taking.  They still end up leaving service early with permanent disabilities as a result of all the weight they were carrying.

Thats true. The Army doesn’t give smaller weapons, or fewer bullets, or lighter-weight anything to smaller Soldiers. When it comes to a combat load, this is one of the few places where the same standard is applied across the board and everyone is expected to carry their share.

Classic Tetris has a really nice community. I love salt and blowups in traditional fighting games and Smash, but Tetris players have always seemed chill and just interested in improving and optimizing their game. Makes for a pleasant change of pace.

As a vet with bad knees due to carrying tons of equipment around when deployed, mainly an M240G machine gun (it weighed just shy of 100 pounds - yes I’m exaggerating but it damn sure felt like it) and/or associated tri-pod, I approve of this.

How about The Last Newhart, where the entire show ends up being a dream of Bob Newhart’s character on his previous sitcom? Or Moonlighting, where the entire concept of a fourth wall was thrown away and the characters regularly worry about being canceled, and ends with Bruce and Cybill saying goodbye? Or Monty Python

Oh! And of course I have to give a shout-out to the old Looney Tunes which set the stage by playing with the audience WAY before anyone reading this was likely to have been born. (“I do this sort of thing to him all through the picture.”)

Meta Commentary has been prevalent for a while if you watch a lot of cartoons. I grew up watching Tiny Toons Adventures and Animaniacs, which were loaded with it, then there was The Tick, occasional episodes of The Simpsons, pretty much every episode of Family Guy after Season 1, just about everything Adult Swim ever

But, as with all things, we’re sure this trend will cycle back around and, by 2023, incredibly sincere comedy will be the new biggest thing.
