Mechanical oil and fuel pressure gauges are mounted outside for safety. You don’t want hot oil or fuel spraying the interior in the event of a gauge or capillary tube failure.

The 4BT is a fairly common conversion. The 6BT is not. That's a massive motor with massive torque potential . A 4BT is a much better match.

305-auto would be less than ideal. Either the 305-5spd or 350 auto combo would be preferred. Add some creaky and leaky T-tops and you've got the perfect Firechicken of my youth.

Good buddy of mine had a 1980 Scout. With the Nissan turbo diesel no less. Purchased new by his dad. He inherited it as his first vehicle. This was back in the mid to late 80s. By that time the engine had been replaced at least once, and the body had been patched up and repainted. Fun times cruising in that beast.
