Got a P5 myself. Went looking for a beater with the intent of keeping it a couple of years while I paid off the wife's car. Ended up finding a low mileage, but slightly riced-out (fart can muffler, after market lights, ugly wheels) example. Bought it, de-riced it and have had it for six years now. It's been the

Good episode. LOTS more car time than previous ones. Be interesting to see if future episodes follow suit.

NP.... no doubt.

Winner winner chicken dinner!

I agree on the NP, but I don't think "slow" even begins to describe the performance. A riding mower with four flat tires could probably out run this thing.

I'm not suggesting they are bad cars at all. I've even considered purchasing a Sportwagen, but for the utility and economy. Not for the fun factor. Anyone that considers a tdi to be fun needs to get out more.

I thought "fun" was part of the requirement?

I'm prepared to drive with no A/C and the windows up until the inside feels like a discarded pair of cycling pants in downtown Dagobah. I'm also prepared to use a special secret technique/tool I brought along that I'm not totally sure is against the rules, so I'm keeping it quiet, for now.

The Barfly anthem of my generation. Great tune.

Owned an '03 IS for about 25k trouble free miles before family needs necessitated trading it. Mine had the MT. Never got 30 mpg. Mid to high 20's was the norm. They're geared pretty short. Premium fuel recommended if memory serves.

*large dog... not large do.

This it not a wagon.

If one of these hypothetically had the maintenance and repair cost of an Accord, factor in fuel economy, frequent tire replacement.... and bail... still way more expensive than an Accord.

Judging by the door panels, and the Satellite grille, that's a Satellite masquerading as a Road Runner. Stripes are wrong too. Quarter/roof stripes weren't packaged together with the fender/hood stripes. I could go on...

"Please be careful when opening overhead bins as items may have shifted in flight. "

Good choice, but I' might argue the first gen was "more 90's" that the second gen, even though it was introduced for 88 and finished after 92. Don't know that you could get one in teal though. Maybe at the very end of the 1st gen model run.

There are tens thousands of electrical vehicles out there that do battery swaps every day. Visit any large warehouse distribution center and you'll see electric fork trucks do it regularly. This isn't a new concept.

I've had an 02 five speed for about five years now. It's been the perfect commuter and back up to our primary family car (2012 Outback... another pseudo wagon). A blast to drive, and a cost of ownership next to nothing. My only complaint is not enough room for both my dogs and the kids.

Diono makes really narrow child safety seats with short seat cushions which are probably just the ticket in this application. Really heavy, and really expensive. They'll also fit three across in most vehicles.

I had almost forgotten about these... which is pretty sad considering I owned one. Actually, it was my wife's car, but I logged plenty of time behind the wheel in it. Only owned it for a couple of years. Yet another car I traded off prematurely due to a new job accompanied by a pay raise and money burning a hole in my
