I read it. I have a table saw.

Not a reach at all.

Maybe because he thinks we are supposed to have a preconceived notion of how Sherman should feel about this issue? And yes, by mentioning the “context” of one side being more similar to what conservatives or Jason Whitlock, two obvious and frequent targets of Deadspin/Gawker ridicule, might say, it’s painfully obvious

This reeks of condescending whitesplaining.

No, they thought a kid, who’s backpack was beeping, and when asked to show what was beeping, presented a homemade electrical device with a timer, was carrying a bomb.

Had to shove this story to every Gawker Media blog eh?

sigh - can’t we just enjoy the science with trying to start shit?

Wait a second.

Would never work - if anyone on the planet knows how to deal with a Zerg rush, it’s the South Koreans.

If you watch full screen in 1080, you can see the turn being assisted with mooring lines from the bow and stern at the corner. Doesn’t really make it less cool to watch.

While the radiant (direction from which the meteors originate) will be in the northeast, they may appear anywhere in the sky. You don't need to look northeast.

Maybe. But I’m a programmer and I have a really hard time to make things look pretty.

Interesting chart—scary how many nukes we had back in the 80’s. What I’d like to see is the same chart, but instead of numbers of warheads, I’d like it to show total potential yield from all of the weapons. You can obviously see that USSR/Russia has a distinct advantage in terms of total number of warheads, but does

If I ever win the lotto, I will promptly quit my job, build a nice woodshop on a quiet piece of land, buy every single woodworking tool that I can find and spend the rest of my life cutting, sanding, shaving, shaping, routing, gluing and burning wood.

Praising effort is good, but you want them to be results-oriented as well. An effort-only mindset fosters a “well, I tried my best, so it was okay to fail” mentality. And like you said, a results-only mindset tends to leave kids brittle in the face of failure, which will happen at times in life.

Now I’m hungry.
