We have a fax machine at home. It does come in handy because I find some places accept faxes and not e-mails. Same at work. My boss prefers people faxing him stuff instead of e-mailing. I guess fax is good for instant access if you're not someone who keeps your computer on 24/7.

Instead of getting a powerful laptop, I'm thinking of getting a netbook and then getting a powerful desktop. I think a netbook already has enough power for the things I'd do while away from home.

I use quick launch for show desktop, browser and email client. Everything else, there's Launchy!

At my university, they've been trying to promote STOP security plates. But I think it's supposed to help you recover your laptop/item more than prevent it from being stolen.
