For what? Did you miss the part where our staff paid for things and organized this independently from my company? My company spent zero money on this and we volunteered to do it after work hours on a Saturday.
My company did something similar this year. All our employees paid for school supplies and books out of our own paychecks, and then we scheduled several events at community centers throughout the state. Each child who attended could get everything on their school supply list if they also chose a book and read from it…
