It does seem to be a global trend— similar movements happening in Japan as well :(

My kid was a ~very slightly~ sleepier version of this, but omg, she really hated to sleep. She was down to one nap a day at 6 months, and by the time she was 2 she would just cry for 2 hours instead of napping during the day.

Thank you for expressing this in a way that I wasn’t able to— you hit exactly on what it was that made me feel so uncomfortable about responding to this story with laughter. As I said in a different response above, my initial reaction was anger, and this helps me understand that gut reaction better.

Make no mistake, I don’t think he deserves a shred of pity. It’s simply that I look at that face and I don’t feel like laughing, I feel angry. And I still think there’s a very fine line between mocking someone for crying and that bullshit sense of masculinity that so often gets twisted into violence against women.
