Based on my experience, which may be limited, putting on bigger wheels typically means going to lower profile tires. These can really mess up the ride of such a big comfy sedan. I’m not saying don’t do it, but maybe push it down the priority list if you have only $5,000 budgeted.

Upgrade wheels to 19" or 20" modern units, wrapped in performance tires.

Torque doesn’t move anything. You could have infinite torque at 0 rpm and you would do nothing.

This car is far from unique.
