The battle of Malachor from the KOTOR games is apparently canon, since it’s referenced in the TFA art book.

#1 The EU was never canon. Elements in the prequels even debunked it. It was always just a series of authorized fan-ficton, some of which had elements used in the films.

#2 Darth Plagueis is canon. He was even mentioned in Episode 3.

#3 The Star Wars films were always about the Skywalkers.

I’m still upset that Disney nuked all of the expanded universe books and comics because they were considered non canon to their future goals for the franchise. I really liked some of the stories and characters from there and Shadows of the Empire is still my favorite book from EU. It’s sad that none of the EU fiction…
