I think they got the tone mostly right - my struggle was that it was just a retread of previous territory with new context.

It's more a rehash of well known Seinfeldian tropes into a immediate post 9/11 context. I mean all 4 characters have plots that are nearly beat for beat from different episodes of the show but just in a different context.
