I keep seeing Americanah pop up in conversation and I keep meaning to pick it up. Maybe I'll get around to it one of these days.

I'll let you know what I think when I finish!

I think thats the next I'm going to pick up. I've read The Bone Clocks and enjoyed it so I'll be on the lookout for that next.

Yeah - I've so far read Cloud Atlas and The Bone Clocks so I was expecting something a little out there to pop up at some point. I haven't finished yet but I wasn't expecting it to be quite as straight forward as it is. Its definitely really good and I am loving it so far but definitely not what I expected.

I'm taking a break my previously established stack of books to work through and am currently making my way through David Mitchell's The Thousand Autumns of Jacob De Zoet. Having read and enjoyed a few other of Mitchell's work I chose this one as my spur of the moment purchase in the Denver airport as I was on my way

I feel like that is the best way to do something like this because otherwise the older album will usually dominate because it has had more time to be bought by consumers.

Well apparently this means that Cold War Kids just kinda sucked during that tour. I thought it was just maybe an off day for them but apparently not.

I'll definitely add it to the list

Its fantastic! I love how she broke up the two timelines of the story. I think its a great structure and you are right it feels so lived in. I was afraid it was going to be kind of preachy but its really humble and brings up some fascinating ideas.

I really enjoyed both of these. I just reread Seveneves and (semi-spoilers) gave up in the final quarter. I'll be interested to know your thoughts after you finish.

I really enjoyed The Pale King but there were quite a few parts that jumped out to me as being incomplete or not fully fleshed out. I don't know if its quite to the point where I wish it hadn't been published but I can only wonder how Wallace would have altered the final version.

Thanks to some great recommendations here I am just finishing up The Dispossessed by Ursula K. Le Guin which is fantastic and have her EarthSea trilogy up next on the docket. Since Thursday is my birthday I went to my local bookstore and picked up a few early birthday presents for myself.

Totally!!!! Where did you see them? Oklahoma City?

I saw them open for Death Cab for Cutie some years ago after The Rhumb Line came out and it was pretty good. It was around Easter and they had people dressed as giant bunnies come out and dance during their last song. Not overly memorable but definitely didn't stick out as the worst live performance I've seen.

Gotta love it when older films tart

I've recently been told I look like Matthew Morrison (Will Schuester from Glee) except my hair isn't curly. Does anyone else remember like 7 years ago there was a Facebook trend for about a week where you were supposed to make your profile picture an actor that you looked like? Or was that just something we only at my

Yeah thats what I'm doing - I'll probably just cancel it next week when it hits iTunes but the great thing about these streaming services is that its so easy to sign up for a free trial if you need access to a specific artist/album

Go listen to My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy - I think that may be his best intro to Kanye album.

I agree - they both experienced severe loss and emotional difficulties and her "looniness" would have really centered Harry and kept him from getting such a big head. Also they were really cute because they were both outsiders.

Part of it for me is that while I know and recognize that he was a complete asshole and there is no way to justify his behavior, he is by far the most asshole I can empathize most with. I mean Dean isn't really an asshole until Jess shows up and gets jealous of him (kind of rightfully so but still) and then becomes
