So, to be clear, I understand their approach. I also happen to disagree with it. There’s a lot to unpack from your response, but I really want to focus on just a few key points:

I don’t totally disagree, but it’s hard to separate Musk from the company when he is as aggressive as he is at making himself the face of it.

I mean, to some degree you’re not wrong, but that feels like a massive dodge. FOr years, I’ve ben hearing Musk/SPaceX stans talk about how Musk’s approach is far superior. I remain unconvinced. I’m glad we’ve gotten to a place where the Falcon 9 is safe and reliable, but I am terrified of losing more astronauts

You’re totally right. We can’t possibly offer software updates or patches unless the game is always online.

There is no reason that the system you describe cannot exist with an option to play single player offline. I played Diablo 2, and that existed back then. I played games both online on Battle.net and I played games locally on single player. If there is some anti-cheat crap running on the multiplayer to prevent

Ah yes, Diablo 3, a game which notoriously had a perfect launch without any problems related to its need to always be online...

Right, but I’m NOT buying Diablo 4 now for many reasons, and on that list is “always online.” I won’t buy a game that has that requirement. Period.

I used to love Diablo. However, the bloom is off the rose when it comes to Blizzard. From the shit they pulled with Hong Kong and democratic protests in China to all the horrid stories of sexism and overall gross behavior by their developers, I won’t be buying or playing this.

Just a couple things to add:
1) The original leak of this, which as mentioned came from a focus group survey, indicated that this set (and others in the leak) were likely intended for release in 2024, not this year. Admittedly, plans change, but having all this hype NOW is sub-optimal to hype a year from now when the

I gave up Netflix a year ago. When the new season of the Crown came on, I watched it with my Mom. I have not missed the service at all, and my Mom appreciated some extra visits and a chance to gossip about “those Royals.”

Why? So my iPhone can get a bunch a malware and ads like my Android phone?

Where is this nebulous of apps that exist outside of the app stores ? Yeah I want to open my phone to malware 🙄

I’d be ok with America’s bad policies getting called out, actually. Turning actual suffering into a video game is kind of gross. Totally fictional games like Goldeneye or Doom are pretty apolitical, but Call of Duty glamorizes war and violence in a way that I find very off-putting.

I think the hesitation drops over time. The initial resistance will fade as more people try it, like it, and it becomes less “scary science meat.

Human meat? No. No interest.

I mean, one could argue that the Israeli project “landed” on the moon...

Enterprise is a beautiful thing, and a marvel of engineering. Also interesting, no two space shuttles are exactly the same. They kept learning how to build them better, so that they literally shaved more than 3,000 kg of weight from Columbia to Endeavor. Saw it in NYC this year, and here are a couple shots I took:

You want a path to something better?

Stuff like this is why I stopped playing MGS games.  I know THIS didn’t make it into the actual build, but even back in the MSG days, there was stuff like having to find a hidden frequency on the back of the game box that made them intermittently infuriating.  Like, there’s also good stuff in the games, but life’s too

Man, I couldn’t disagree more. I have loved every episode of this show. So far, it’s my fave since Loki.
