The AVClub: We’re not quite soulless monsters — but we’re working on that!
Maybe just once -- show the snake in a Jitters smock bussing a table or something.
Oh man, if they put Lucas in the Hammer pants ..
Personally Aidan Gallagher was my MVP for the year. Making Five the throughline this season was a smart call.
Lila doesn’t have Rogue powers. She has old school Mimic powers just like Peter Petrelli.
I just kind of took it as Ben manifesting as a peer to Klaus; now, whether that was solely through Ben’s concentration or of it was influenced by how Klaus would imagine him is another question.
I don’t believe there’s ever been a “real” reason given, no. But IIRC they saw him fight alongside the group in the S1 finale, and Five asked about Ben at least once prior to the possession scene.
You’re not alone; I liked the pilot way more than I expected to. FFS, it’s refreshing to see a show in this franchise where everybody’s happy to be there. Rutherford was great for me on two levels: he’s not introduced as having Angst about being a cyborg, and it was great not just seeing his first date play out action…
To be fair, Diego also releases the hose when he realizes he won’t make it to Vanya, so that Klaus can at least take a swing at it.
However, I’d like to pile onto Caroline’s critique of the handling of Ben’s sacrifice too. Considering that Diego was the only one who learned that Ben was even on this plane of existence…
I’m not even sure what the Hargreeves siblings want as this point. Presumably to return to 2019, although they still have that year’s apocalypse to solve too.
Usually I’d agree but this one is so specific that it warranted mentioning; I don’t have the issue when I go to the Umbrella Academy reviews.
More of a tech note here, Tom, but the past couple of weeks this weird-pop up appears when I visit both Popcorn Champs and When Romance Met Comedy, but no other stories on the site. IO9 had a similar issue last month.
On the bright side, this episode had some nice bits for Herb!
Honestly that whole scene struck me as an Idiot Ball moment. Took me out of the show for a little bit.
I have to say, even accounting for the memory loss, Vanya has been handling the revelations thus far really well. Now, if/when she’s told about what she did to Alison -- that’ll be a test.
I think the idea is that the IKEA 3 can mess with other metahumans’ abilities; in that same fight we saw Diego’s knife attack veer away from the target.
Nice bit of eliding by Five, though, in filling Vanya in but only telling her about the asteroid destroying the world and not her connection to it.
I’m only up to this episode — started late, my bad! — but my guess is he didn’t want to overwhelm her with not just revealing their family relationship, but what led up to her run in with Sissy and her family. Considering the nature of Vanya’s powers I can see why he’d hesitate to hit her with that much information.…
More like You Could be YIIIIIIIIIIIKES, sounds like
