the mysterious disappearance of her mogul-adventurer father (Dominic West)
Also Flash’s mentoring sucks. I liked the subtle questions he was asking. “Why did you hurt that guy? He wasn’t a threat just because of the t-shirt he was wearing.”, and “When you’re powered up, do you resist radiation? Poison? Do you sink or can you swim?”, and of course “How much force do you need?”
So they’re bringing the A.S.A. into this? That’s pretty interesting. Black Lightning was part of The Outsiders. So was Thunder. And the A.S.A.’s uber patriotic metahuman team, Force of July, were antagonists to The Outsiders.
Agreed. In Amell’s defense, I think his acting matches his character’s experience with mentoring. Jefferson is a father, a principal, and first became Black Lightning decades ago. I expect his performance to carry more weight.
Interesting that even Gambi is a product of white power structures that were trying to pacify a black population. His conscience got Jefferson’s father killed, and his guilt over that changed his priorities.
I particularly liked that in the crossover this year, when the teams were assembled on the Waverider before the last big fight, Sara was the one that gave them their marching orders. So not only is she the equal of Oliver and Barry (and Kara) as a team leader, when the various teams join forces, at least on her ship,…
Seriously, you didn’t put in when the Legends were waiting for Sarah get this mission started phrase. Come on how do you not love, “Ok, everyone put on your Sunday best because we are going to church.”
Yeah, I’m more with the peanut gallery on this one. The episode hasn’t reached my silliness threshold with Elvis’ haunted guitar and holding a funeral for Josh Groban, but era-relevant racial reality definitely gets in the way here. I could argue that maybe having Memphis turn into a ghost town would more than throw…
This is my favorite Renton-related Almost Live comment:
World, meet Renton. ........Run.....
I’ll grant the lady this much: by backing up at the end, she produced the first evidence I have ever seen of reverse racism.
Agreed about Elastica. I was in high school when their album came out and LOVED it. It was criminal that virtually no one ever talked about it. Everyone loved their first single and then they ignored the rest of their album.
Only seen people commenting on the purple paint in the floor sex scene. She’s in two puddles of paint, one purple (Killgrave) and the other, smaller puddle is yellow (Luke Cage). I’m just glad the green bucket stayed up on the table. I don’t like Danny Rand ; )...
This is the best comment of the entire year, and will be understarred due to the original comment not garnering enough attention. This comment will be a 3 seed when it should be a 1. Also, wtf with that OP?
Seriously, Trish is the goddamned worst at making choices that affect her friends. If her and Barry Allen got together, the multiverse would implode...
My personal rankings of the all-time greatest female superhero performances:
Seinfeld taught me there are no Black women in New York City. But if you are the only one you will be hard-nosed cop who gets dropped out the window. Why didn’t Costa take the shot?!!
That bit with a whole bunch of Kilgraves is totally a reference to the Master becoming everyone on Earth in Tennant’s last Doctor Who episode, right?
This is what I thought as well watching this episode and what I would have preferred for this season. I felt like the first season handled Jessica’s PTSD so well, but it’s been brushed to the side this season and consequently I had problems connecting with the stories (and overall I’m just not connecting with the…
