That’s what I was going to say. Can’t replace a fleet of Camrys with a fleet of M5s and expect more readiness. If capability goes up, cost to maintain readiness goes up. Now whether the F-35 is more capable than the platforms it replaces is another matter.

Shoulda bought the YF23. It’d still have these problems, but it would have looked way cooler.

It’s not exactly shocking that the simpler 4th generation fighters have had an easier time getting to 80%. Especially since the services are in the process of retiring the older and more rough airframes as the F-35 comes on line.
