I thought they were rejigging the time line so that the events in Hannibal (the novel) take place prior to his being incarcerated. Isn't that why they introduced Mason Verger last season, and why we have inspector Pazzi this season?

Isn't this season basically a mashup of Hannibal/Hannibal Rising/Red Dragon?

Something that occurred to me is that it could be Mason Verger in the wheelchair, maybe they're switching up how he gets disfigured?
