Charles Band's father directed films in Italy, so he and his composer brother Richard grew up there. Empire Pictures briefly owned the old De Laurentiis studio outside Rome. Band has his detractors, but his importance in the history of home video deserves some praise. His big mistake with Empire and Full Moon was

There is a documentary on the way about Empire Pictures, Celluloid Wizards in the Video Wasteland, and the poster they are using for it is from the unmade film Decapitron written by Bilson and De Meo.

Frank Darabont did uncredited rewrites on the film. It is a shame none of the writers included Murphy Ranch in the story as it was an actual hidden Nazi base in Los Angeles.
