the silent protagonist doesnt work when he has a predefined personality. this is why Gordon was a better character in Half Life 1. you could make him act however you want. in Half Life 2 its really hard to keep the illusion that Gordon Freeman is anything but a really nice guy who wants to save the world.

sounding similar is not enough to be infringing on a musical copyright. lots of songs have the same keys, the same tempos, the same time signatures, and even the same chord progressions. some songs even have the same melodies. the songs need to be identical (or damn close to it) for most the songs length.

yeah me too. not to mention there has been plenty of advancements on game HUDs. many games even implement a sort of HUDless HUD. take Dead Space for example. all the HUDs information is visible in other ways to blend more seamlessly into the gameplay.

Re-Boot wasnt the same concept at all though. it was a great show but only tangentially related.

the TV show Game Over had a similar concept but it was too ahead of its time. its a shame too because it wasnt actually bad.
