Mass Effect 2's combat simply modernized its shooter mechanics to match Gears of War and simplified the RPG skill trees to the barest minimum to be accessible. The reason it was needed, though, was that Mass Effect 1 released when there wasn’t really a standardized control setup for combat, and Bioware didn’t know how

Ok now, imagine if someone turned your God of War game into an isometric RPG with text only dialog trees. Change is no big deal until it’s something you enjoy.

Not sure why you’re saying fans like it’s ironic. Yes, if the sequel to a series they’ve been waiting on for years comes out and is a fundamentally different type of game, many of them will be disappointed. That’s not new or hard to understand.

I don’t want to go as far as saying the superficial backlash to the violence in the games is the reason the show is less interested in showing those aspects of the characters (it might be), but regardless your point stands and you’re exactly right about the affect on the content this new framing has.

To echo a comment I made on a previous kotaku article (that seems only to get more relevant as more information/episodes are released) It’s not surprising that the changes they’re making seem to bizarrely not understand the appeal of source material. Case in point, toning down the violence - The reasoning behind this

Going to be tough with no Jess or Jason on Giantbomb. Jess was a breath of fresh air when she came on, and stood her ground. Jason was the last (regular) face of the past. Still reeling from Gerstman’s firing. Game of the Year has been a tradition in this house, but couldn’t even deal with the mess it was this year.

This quadruple sucks. Jess is great and brought back some of the analytical energy Austin brought with him during his short tenure and while the spirit was different, the new GB crew was doing cool things. Jason Oestreicher who was a great presence too also got fired, which is triple fucked up because the man is quite

The driver told police that he had been using Tesla’s new “Full Self-Driving,” and if interested, you can view the redacted accident report here:

So you know Paul personally have direct knowledge of the background search he conducted to know the “horse ranch” was on the up and up?

It’s adorable* that a big sale for Nintendo is slashing the price of a $60 game released in 2019 (Link’s Awakening) by a whopping $18.

It’s actually kinda funny that Amazon went from “We’re gonna develop our own games and publish them on our own PC platform and even create our own game engine” to “Okay, well, we’ll publish PC games that were already successful in other countries on the Amazon Games platform but they’ll still be exclusives” to “Okay,

Seriously, I found literally every Tomb Raider game before it to be unplayable. The new trilogy, and the first one in particular, ruled.

it looks like this follow-up could break the record for gaps between entries in the franchise. The last longest was between the close of the series’ best trilogy (fight me), 2008's Underworld, and one of its worst entries, the awful, stupidly named 2013 reboot, Tomb Raider. I predict we’ll see this announced for

You lost the popular vote in a presidential election by 10 million votes, the largest gap ever. More evidence of how wrong “conservative math” normally is.

Court Jester.

The sad part is this will only make Chapelle double down on his bullshit even more.

When you’re defending the richest man in the world, you’re not a comedian anymore.

No, Dave, YOU shut the fuck up. What the fuck happened to you? Caping for a dumbfuck racist billionaire. Shame.

He has a trans daughter who hates him. No wonder when he makes “jokes” like saying his pronouns are prosecute/Fauci.

I don’t like getting into someone’s personal live but ever since I learned Musk has 10 kids that’s all I can think of when he spends all his time being an edgelord.
